EUNICE ZASTROW

On the evening of February 27, 2016, Eunice Zastrow, 88, passed away unexpectedly of natural causes at Sheboygan Memorial Hospital.

Eunice was born on March 18, 1927 in the Town of Manchester, Green Lake County, daughter of the late Albert and Leona (Krueger) Neumann. She graduated from Markesan High School in 1943 and attended UW-Oshkosh, graduating in 1951 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She began her lifelong teaching career in a one room schoolhouse in Green Lake County. She then taught at Kingston State Grade School and Waukesha Union School over a fiveyear period before joining the Plymouth School District. She taught in Plymouth for 34 years, retiring in 1989 and capping an almost 40 year teaching career.

On June 21, 1952, Eunice married Lowell W. Zastrow at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Manchester, WI. The couple resided in Plymouth following their marriage. Lowell preceded her in death in January 1993.

She was an active member at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth, and enjoyed the Ladies Lutheran Bridge Marathon and Sunday Morning Breakfast Group.

Eunice was also a member of the Civic Society, Women’s Club, and was part of the Quit Qui Oc Women’s Golf League and was able to record a hole-inone at Quit Qui Oc.

In addition to being an avid golfer, she enjoyed many rounds of Bridge and Sheepshead with her friends, and traveling with her family.

Eunice is survived by one son: Dan (Andra) Zastrow of Stockton, CA; grandchildren: Jessica, Gregg, and Brett; daughter: Shelley (Rick) Vanderkin of West Bend; grandchildren: Bradley and Marcus; two brothers: Eugene (Ramona) Neumann of Union Grove, WI, and Russell (Delores) Neumann of Markesan.

She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one infant son; parents; brother: Floyd (Marion) Neumann; sister: Elaine (Don) Abel; brother-in-law: Kenneth Zastrow; and two sisters-in-law: Delaine (Ralph) Schmitt and Marilyn Rediske.

Following Eunice’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial Services will be held on Friday evening March 4, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. Nathan Meador, Pastor of the Church will officiate. Inurnment will take place in the Plymouth Woodlawn Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4 at the church from 3:30 p.m. until the time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Eunice’s name.
