The event was the eighth and final round in regional competition for the GNSS Series. The racing was originally scheduled to be held last Saturday at Kaukauna but was moved to the Snow Rangers’ facility because there wasn’t enough snow stockpiled to build a course at Kaukauna.

“For the late notice – about a week in advance – we had 120 enties and a nice group of spectators,” said Dan Schmitz, GNSS media director and a member of the Snow Rangers’ club.

The Snow Rangers also set up and did the season-ending banquet for GNSS following the races. The Snow Rangers also hosted a GNSS event Jan. 30-31 as part of the 38th Annual Budweiser Classic Race of Champions.

Despite the unseasonably mild weather, the snow-cross course held up well.

“With the weather in the 50s for the race, the fans and racers enjoyed the mild day. Although the sun and warm weather melted most of the snow around the track we still had a nice track,” said Schmitz.

The major winners were Luke Wallenberg of Kaukauna in the Pro-Am and Pro 16-29 classes, and Jakki Farmer of Medford in the women’s class.
