MERLIN W. HAAG

Merlin W. Haag, 95, of Plymouth,WI passed away peacefully Thursday evening, (March 3, 2016) at Rocky Knoll Heath Care Facility in Plymouth with family by his side.

He was born in the Town of Plymouth on November 13, 1920, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Hahn) Haag.

Merlin attended Plymouth Public Schools.

On January 28, 1950, he married Marcella Harder. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2015.

Merlin served in the United States Army during World War II from 1942- 1945 during the European Theater. He was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star.

He was employed with Kraft Foods Cold Storage for 42 years and also worked interim jobs at Cleveland Container and Stokley Van Camp.

He was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church and was also a member of the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.

Merlin enjoyed being on the pit crew for his son’s race car. He also enjoyed walking around Plymouth, mowing grass and spending time with family.

He is survived by his son: David (Elizabeth) Haag of the Town of Mitchell; daughter in-law: Beverly Haag of Sheboygan; five grandchildren: Randy Haag (Melissa Kempka), Jerry (Laurie) Haag, Bill (Jill) Haag, Vicki (Mike) Patchak, Paul (Alicia) Schroeder-Haag; 14 great grandchildren: Zach, Ryan, Rozzi, Joey, Judson, Ashlea, Aiden, Damin, Devin, Dylan, GraceLynn, Ethan, Camrynn and Lilian; and three sisters in-law: Alberta Harder, Jean Harder and Marian Wieck.

He also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

Merlin was preceded in death by his wife: Marcella; sons: Ronald, Richard and Randy; two brothers: Lester and Emadell; four sisters: Rosella (Elbert) Papen, Arlyle (Herb) Buchman, Helen (Lawrence) Johanning and Ethel Haag; and three brothers-inlaw: Kenneth Harder, Merle Harder and Arden Wieck Sr.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John Lutheran Church in Plymouth. Rev. Nathan Meador, Pastor of the Church, will officiate.

Military Rites will be held following the service at Church by the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.

Friends may call at the church on Tuesday, March 8 from 4 p.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in his name.

Burial will be in St. John the Baptist Parish Cemetery.
