Diabetes workshops in Sheboygan

Two free “Healthy Living with Diabetes” workshops will be held in Sheboygan County next month.

Marsho Family Medical Group will be offering the series beginning Tuesday, April 5, at the Marsho Clinic in Sheboygan.

Aurora Health Care will be offering the series beginning Friday, April 8, at the Aurora Sheboygan Clinic.

Healthy Living with Diabetes is a six-week program designed by Stanford University for people with type 2 diabetes and their caregivers. Participants receive support from trained leaders and other workshop participants, learn practical ways to manage their pain and fatigue, learn about reading food labels, planning low-fat meals, preventing low blood sugar, exercise options, foot care, learn better ways to communicate about their condition with doctors and family members, problem-solving and goal-setting.

The goal is to help people better manage their health conditions and deal with the frustration, fatigue and pain that can accompany type 2 diabetes.

Past participants report increased energy, reduced stress, more selfconfidence and fewer doctors’ visits.
