Gardening school scheduled

Wisconsin Garden Club Federation announces the beginning of its Garden Study School. All four of the 2- day programs will be held at Fox Valley Technical College in Appleton, with the first sessions scheduled for April 8-9. Instructors for the course include horticulturists from University of Wisconsin Extension, Fox Valley Technical College, and independent practitioners.

Members of Wisconsin Garden Club Federation who complete all 8 days and pass the required tests are awarded the title of Garden Consultant. However, members and non-members alike may choose to attend any of the days. Each day’s content is valuable to anyone interested in gardening. Cost for both days is $50, one day for $30. Lunch is available for $12 each day.

April 8th’s session begins with Techniques for Growing Outdoor Flowers, followed by a tour of FVTC’s Horticulture Department. The afternoon is devoted to Basic Botany for Gardeners. April 9th’s presentation starts with a lecture on Plant Propagation, leading into a hands on plant propagation experience. The afternoon session concentrates on soils.
