Robert V. Larson, 92, resident of Elkhart Lake, WI, formerly longtime resident of Wells, MI, died Wednesday, March 9, 2016, surrounded by his family at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI.

He was born on Aug. 22, 1923, in Gladstone, MI and was the son of Joseph and Mary (Anderson) Larson. Robert (Bob) attended school in Gladstone, MI and was a member of the graduating class of 1942.

Following high school, he enlisted and served in the US Army Air Force during WWII. Upon returning, he married Bernice R. Bintner on Oct. 11, 1947. He was employed by the Birds Eye Veneer Company, Chicago Northwestern Railroad, and Mead Paper Company where he retired after 27 years of service.

Bob was a longtime member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Escanaba, MI. Throughout the years he was an accomplished carpenter spending many hours in his workshop “the barn” building beautiful cabinets, tables, and other woodworking projects for friends, family and in service to his church.

Throughout his life, Bob loved to spend time with his friends, neighbors, and most of all his family and grandchildren. Survivors include two children: Mary (Jack) Conti, Hampshire, IL, and Terry (Amy) Larson, Plymouth, WI; six grandchildren: Michael (Maia) Conti, Chicago, IL, Jennifer Conti, Hampshire, IL, Ryan (Kristina) Larson, Brookfield, WI, Hillary Larson, Madison, WI, Robert Larson, Plymouth, WI, Andrew Larson, Madison, WI; and seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jacob, Jack, Joseph, and Jianna Trevino, all of Hampshire, IL, Benjamin and Amelia Larson of Brookfield, WI; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Bernice; six brothers: Willard, Harvey, Stanley “Ike”, Norman, Lloyd and Clem; and six sisters: Myrtle Lerioux, Ruth Legault, Dorothy Johnson, Edith Dabney, Nora Lavigne and Jane Bruntjens.

A visitation took place from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 14, at the Anderson Funeral Home in Escanaba MI. Delta County Veteran’s Council conducted services at 3 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert V. Larson followed at 5 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church with Rev. Eric Heskin officiating.

A meal was served at the conclusion of the service in the church fellowship hall. Burial will take place in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery.
