GMO facts subject of UW-S talk

The Truth and Lies of GMOs will be discussed in the latest Speaker’s Series lecture at the University of Wisconsin-Sheboygan. Everyone is invited to attend the Tuesday, April 5, 2016 lecture at 7 p.m. in the Wombat Room (Room 2114) on the UWSheboygan campus.

UW-Sheboygan Associate Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Kabrhel will provide a basic background of GMOs - genetically modified organisms - and discuss many of the misconceptions that surround them, particularly on social media. His research into GMOs is actually a smaller part of a larger study that includes pseudoscience and the media. He is also able to incorporate this research into student projects at UW-Sheboygan. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, Dr. Kabrhel earned a PhD in Organic Chemistry and has been teaching at the Sheboygan campus since 2007.

The Speaker’s Series presents a new topic each month that is discussed in an open forum format. Area community members as well as UW-Sheboygan students, faculty and staff are welcome to attend the free one-hour presentations. The final topic in the spring series, Who’s Afraid of Artificial Intelligence will be presented on May 3.

UW-Sheboygan is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan. Free parking is available. For more information, visit
