EL-G girls fourth in state bowling

WAUSAU – Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah finished fourth in the girls Division II team event at the Wisconsin High School Bowling Club state tournament, held here March 4-6.

The Resorters advanced to the stepladder finals after placing third in the qualifying round with a score of 2,358 for 15 games. The top-five five teams advanced to the finals.

EL-G lost in round two of the finals to Manawa/Weyauwega, 369-337, for two games. Amherst won the championship match over Manawa/Weyauwega, 325-319.

The Resorters’ team members were Emma Feldmann, Claire Feldmann, Camrie Schmitz, Sonia Schubert, Paige Weber, Lauren Schmitt and Allison Sartori.

Emma Feldmann and Schubert also bowled in the girls singles competition and didn’t advance to the semifinals. The top-15 bowlers in the qualifying round advanced to the semifinals. In qualifying, Feldmann and Schubert rolled 495 and 435 series, respectively. Feldmann’s high game was 167 and Schubert’s, 162.

Carlene Beyer of Manawa won the girls singles title with a 198- 170 win over Morgan Stary of Green Bay Southwest in the championship match.

EL-G/Plymouth bowled in the boys Division II team event. The team scored a 15-game total of 2,466 (a high game of 190) in the qualifying round and didn’t advance to the stepladder finals.

The top-five teams in the qualifying round advanced to the finals. In the title match, Ashwaubenon defeated Marinette, 323-305, for two games.

The EL-G/Plymouth squad included Anthony Klahn from ELG; and Cole Held, Jared Beck Michael Schoerner, Ryan Krebsbach, Trevor Horneck and Ty Brink from Plymouth.
