Pink Heals of Sheboygan County was selected to be the recipient of the funds raised during this year’s three-day Coaches vs. Cancer event at Random Lake High School, which included a wrestling match, a boys basketball game and a girls basketball game.

“The kids that worked this event are a cut above the rest,” Pink Heals of Sheboygan County President Tara Albright of Sheboygan Falls said. “There was a lot of work put into this three-day event from the shirts that were made special for the event and all of the different events to help us raise money. Events included a dollar dash, where two students ran through the stands to raise as much money possible in one minute, a chuck a duck event, where those who purchased a duck, tossed the duck into the middle of the gym floor as close to the target as possible, and also a 50/50 raffle.

“One student, Jenna Bares, took this event as her ‘baby’ and was in charge of everything,” she said. “Due to the wintery season, our pink fire truck, Dawn Ty, was unable to make the pilgrimage to Random Lake. In her spare time, Jenna replicated our truck and allowed all those in attendance a chance to still be able to put their name on it to honor their loved one who battled or is currently battling cancer. Pink Heals Sheboygan County was in attendance all three nights working the bake sale. We had an amazing time, meeting some great people.”

Pink Heals of Sheboygan County, which was introduced locally in June 2014, provides financial assistance to cancer patients living in Sheboygan County.

“We are so happy to be able to say we will be able to help a lot of people in Sheboygan County with this money,” Albright said. “We would like to thank Random Lake School for everything that they have done for us. Thank you for helping to show our community how to keep donated dollars local.”
