Elvera Dassow, 94, of Plymouth, WI passed away on March 14, 2016 at the Harvest Home Senior Living Center in Howards Grove, WI.

She was born in the Town of Sheboygan Falls on October 8, 1921, daughter of the late Edwin and Erna (Braun) Mog.

She attended Grade School in Johnsonville, WI. On September 27, 1941 she married Donald Dassow at Saron United Church of Christ.

Elvera was a lifelong member of Saron United Church of Christ where she was baptized, confirmed, and married. Being in the House of God was always a part of her life. She grew up with the tradition of worshiping on Sunday mornings and other times to be with Christian friends and neighbors. There was, and is, a togetherness of loving your neighbor, caring about each other, hearing the message from the pulpit and living through faith, hope, and love.

In her early years, Elvera farmed with her husband in addition to working at Stokley Canning Factory in Plymouth. Following her husband’s death in 1959, she raised their four children while managing and working the farm. After retiring from her farm work, she worked at Americinn Motel in Plymouth and later at Aurora Sheboygan Clinic for over 15 years. She was a member of the Johnsonville Homemakers, Saron Ladies Aid and the Saron Church Choir. She was also a member of the National Farmers Organization where she held several office positions. She received awards for Grade A milk production and devoted her heart and many years to agriculture. She was a member of People to People, Sheboygan chapter, and gave many presentations of her mission trips to Mexico at churches and received an award for doing so. She also received the Slyis Weber award from People To People.

Elvera was a poll worker in the Town of Sheboygan Falls and a volunteer at the Sheboygan County Fair for many years.

She is survived by her son: James (Judy) Dassow of Fond du Lac; daughters: Janet (Karl) Wesener of Kiel and Gloria (Jay) Flegal of Plymouth; grandchildren: Lori (Mark) Schrage of Mt. Calvary, Brian Dassow of Mt. Joy, PA, Linda Nagel of Shakopee, MN, Brad (Debra) Dassow of Denison, IA , Michele (Scott) Daane of Kiel, Michael (Tanya) Wesener of Cleveland, Monica (Michael) Carlson, Lakeville, MN, Deann (Ryan) Harper of Sheboygan, Lindsey (Brian) Poirier of Fond duLac, Nathan (Sara) Dassow of Howards Grove; and great grandchildren: Aaron, Taylor, Parker, Colin, Hailee, Ryan, Gabrielle, Samantha, Elizabeth, Derek, Kyle, Sydney, Spencer, Brevan, Reid, Brynn, Gavin, Elin, Isabella and Xander. She is also survived by her sister: Violet Raquet; sister-in-law: Evelyn Wangerin, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband: Donald Dassow; son: Glenn Dassow; sister: Nelda Gumm; and brother: Kenneth Mog.

Funeral services were held on Saturday March 19, 2016 at Saron United Church of Christ in Sheboygan Falls, WI. Rev. Dr. Ernest Huntzinger, pastor of the Church officiated. Burial was in the Saron UCC East Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Elvera’s name.
