‘Peace Officer’ at JMKAC

The Indie Lens Pop-Up film series continues Tuesday and Wednesday, Apr. 12 and 13, with free screenings of Peace Officer by William “Dub” Lawrence at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

“Dub” established and trained his rural state’s first SWAT team, only to see that same unit kill his son-in-law in a controversial standoff 30 years later.

Driven by a desire to bring the truth about his son-in-law’s avoidable killing to light, Dub approached a filmmaker at a softball game and asked for editing lessons so he could make a short video with the footage at his son-inlaw’s killing he had acquired from Freedom of Information requests over the years.

The film screens at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Apr. 12, and again at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Apr. 13.
