Raising the flag to remember






Members of the Ladewig-Zinkgraf American Legion Post 243 and the World’s Cheese Center Post 5612 Veterans of Foreign Wars raised the National League of Families POW/ MIA flag in front of City Hall Saturday morning. The ceremony marked the anniversary of the start of the Bataan Death March after the surrender of American and Filipino forces to the Japanese on the Philippine Island peninsula of Bataan April 9, 1942, during World War II. Along with the raising of the flag, Mayor Donald Pohlman read a proclamation (below left) marking POW/MIA Recognition Week.
