Mrs. Rita M. Grusznski (nee Jobelius), formerly of Green Bay and Sheboygan Falls, passed away Tuesday evening, April 5, 2016 surrounded by her family at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center, her home of the last three + years.

She was 84 years old. Rita was born November 23, 1931 in Green Bay, the daughter of Warren and Julia (nee Heim) Jobelius. After leaving school, she worked as a nanny for a local doctor. When she was 16, she met her soul mate, Alfred Grusznski and the two were united in marriage on February 13, 1954, at St. Peter and Paul Church in Green Bay.

The couple moved to Sheboygan Falls in 1958. Rita took great pride in staying home to raise their 5 children, and taught her family kindness, love, compassion and determination. She was concerned about them until the very end, and always selflessly put their needs in front of her own.

Rita was a member of Blessed Trinity Parish in Sheboygan Falls, and enjoyed attending weekly church services at Rocky Knoll. She was an animal lover, and adored her own beloved dogs, as well as the pets that would come to visit her. While living at home, she had enjoyed canning, baking, cooking, and could always be counted on to mend damaged clothing. She took great pride in her yard that she filled with bright flowers and fruit trees, and made sure the birds were always well fed. She loved tending to her house plants, and being able to bring neglected ones back to life.

In 2012, Rita and Al moved to Rocky Knoll where Rita made many new friends and lived life to its fullest participating in many activities including painting, crafts, baking, listening to live bands, and her favorite, playing Bingo. She enjoyed the simple things in life, and treasured time spent with her family. Her loved ones will remember her for always giving and never expecting anything in return.

Rita is survived by the love of her life and husband of 62 years: Al of Plymouth and their five children: Steve (Meri) Grusznski, Gail (Terry) Syrjala, Lori (Mike) Hanson and Tim Grusznski, all of Sheboygan Falls and Pat (Kim) Grusznski of Sheboygan. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren: David (Stacy) Grusznski, Rebecca (Brian) Payne, Julia (John) Shields, Sheila Syrjala, Tiffany (Travis) Christenson, Patrick Hanson, Austin Hanson and Robert (Nicole) Grusznski; 5 greatgrandchildren: Isla and Finley Grusznski, Jordyn and Brandon Payne and Graysen Christenson; sisters: Carol (Pete) Edges and Charlotte (Dewaine) Ascher; brothers and sisters-in-law: Jim Clark, Agnes Benz, Raymond (Elsie) Grusznski, Leo Heim, Evelyn (Francis Cavanaugh) Stetson, Kathleen Dworak, Mary (Jerome) Watzka, Patrick (Marie) Grusznski and Mary Grusznski; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and her dear friends and caregivers at Rocky Knoll. She is preceded in death by her parents: Warren and Julia; granddaughter: Heather Marie Hanson; infant brother: Donald Jobelius; and sisters: Bernice Clark and JoAnn (Jim) Manser.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11th, 2016 at Blessed Trinity Parish, 327 Giddings Ave. in Sheboygan Falls. The family received visitors at the church on Sunday, April 10th from 3-6 p.m., and again on Monday the 11th from 10-11:15 a.m.. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Sheboygan Falls.
