Kayak and clean up the marsh

The community is invited to spend time on Earth Day kayaking and cleaning up the Sheboygan County Marsh.

This free event on Friday, April 22 is co-sponsored by Plymouth School District Community Education & Recreation and Generations Intergenerational Center.

Families with children in fifth grade and up are encouraged to participate; this is an in-service day in the Plymouth School District and St. John Lutheran School.

Participants are welcome to park in the south parking lot at Plymouth High School and take a free shuttle bus to the Marsh. It will leave at 12:45 p.m. and return around 5 p.m.

Marsh Kayak and Clean-up will be from approximately 1 to 3 p.m., followed by snacks and conversation until 5 p.m. at the Marsh Tower and camp site. Food will be provided by Generations volunteers and Community Ed & Rec staff.

The event is free, and includes use of a kayak (weight limit 250 pounds), lifejacket and paddle. You also can bring your own kayak or canoe; ask for a free one-day boat-landing pass when registering.

Either way, please register by Tuesday, April 19 by calling 892-5068, stopping in the Community Ed & Rec office on the north end of PHS, or emailing Clayton Moore at cmoore@plymouth.k12.wi.us. All participants need to sign a waiver of liability.

To learn more, email cmoore@plymouth.k12.wi.us, call (920) 892- 5068 or visit the Community Education and Recreation office on the north end of Plymouth High School, 125 Highland Ave.
