Joint surgery care recognized

The Joint Commission has awarded HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan the Gold Seal of Approval for Orthopedic Joint Replacement, a mark of excellence shared by less than 8 percent of hospitals in the nation.

Patients who receive orthopedic joint replacements at HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital are cared for by the experts of Prevea Orthopedics and the Joints inMotion program.

“We are always striving to offer the gold standard in joint replacement surgery,” said Dr. Scott Glaeser, surgeon for Prevea Orthopedics and Physician Champion for the Executive Joint Replacement Council in Sheboygan. “We have a multifaceted team approach which leads to higher-quality and more successful joint replacement outcomes.”

“HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital has thoroughly demonstrated a high level of care for patients in need of joint replacements,” said Wendi J. Roberts, RN, executive director, Certification Programs, The Joint Commission. “We commend HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital for becoming a leader in orthopedic joint replacement, potentially providing a higher standard of service for patients in its community.”

The Joint Commission is the nation’s oldest and largest accrediting body in health care and evaluates more than 21,000 health care organizations and programs in the United States.
