HGHS upped its BEC record to 1-3 (1-3 overall). Hilbert/Stockbridge dropped to 0-4 in the league (0-4 overall).

The Tigers struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning to seize a 7-5 lead. The key hit was a two-run double by Taylor Bubolz.

HGHS added two insurance runs in the sixth on a single by Courtney Binversie to up its lead to 10-6.

Bubolz had a team-high three RBIs and shared the lead in hits with Zaylie Kleinman and Binversie at two each. Binversie contributed two RBIs. Katy Berg and Cassidy Kahl led in runs with a pair apiece.

“I was really happy with the way my team responded after falling behind 4-0. It is so easy as a young team to get frustrated and give up,” said Tiger head coach Tom Heier.

“The ladies have done a nice job of fighting back and are starting to believe in themselves. Confidence really goes a long way in this game.

“We got good production from Taylor Bubolz in the field and hitting with two doubles,” said Heier.

Bubolz, a junior shortstop, threw out a runner at home in the fifth.

Paige Splittgerber earned a complete-game win. She allowed two earned runs on six hits with seven walks and five strikeouts.

The losing pitcher was Jackie Probst who went the distance and gave up 10 earned runs on nine hits with 10 walks and four strikeouts.

Brianna Ecker led Hilbert/ Stockbridge in hits with three. Probst had a team-high two RBIs on a first-inning triple.
