Walk MS: Sheboygan Sunday

Nearly 470 residents from the Sheboygan area Sunday will join more than 3,000 people throughout the state walking this weekend for a world free of multiple sclerosis (MS).

Walk MS: Sheboygan will take place at Blue Harbor Resort. Check-in and on-site registration begins at 9 a.m. with the walk starting at 10 a.m. Participants will be able to choose a one- or three-mile route along Lake Michigan, beginning and ending at the resort.

The goal is to raise $40,000 from the Sheboygan walk. Proceeds support MS-related research and services. There is no registration fee but donations and fundraising are encouraged.

Walk MS is coordinated by volunteers. The morning will include a continental breakfast, a rest stop on the route, free Culver’s custard and a special guest appearance by Miss Wisconsin USA Kate Redeker.

Spread across three weekends this spring and another weekend in the fall, Walk MS will take place in 20 Wisconsin cities throughout 2016 with a goal of raising $1.5 million.

More than 11,000 children, women and men in the state have been diagnosed with MS, believed to be one of the higher prevalence rates in the nation.

Walk MS participants diagnosed with the disease will receive special recognition through the Living with MS program.
