Free Pops Concert features patriotic tribute to Flight 93

The Sheboygan Pops Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Neil Mahnke, will present its 2 p.m. Spring concert on April 24 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave. Sheboygan, Wisconsin.

The band will play a variety of music, from Marches to Broadway.

Flight of Valor by James Swearingen is a magnificent work based on the well-known hymn "It Is Well With My Soul", and is respectfully dedicated to the heroes of United Flight 93 who tragically lost their lives in a Pennsylvania field on September 11, 2001. Reflective, intense, somber and inspiring are but a few of the words that best describe the emotional make-up of this stunning composition.

Sean Reinemann, a Sheboygan South High Senior, will be performing a Trombone solo entitled, Thoughts of Love. This will be Sean’s last concert with the Pops as he will be entering the Marine Corp upon graduation this spring. He is a student of Al Brusse, the Sheboygan Pops Assistant director.

Red, White and Brass, originally written for the Canadian Brass is a fantastic combination of American composers including Sousa, George M. Cohan, Irving Berlin, Stephen Foster, and others. Brilliant and stirring, Red White and Brass is a real celebration of America's all-time favorite tunes. Some of the familiar tunes include: Alexander's Ragtime Band, Entry of the Gladiators, Shaker Suite, American Patrol, and An American Theme and Variations: Beautiful Dreamer.

This concert is free and open to the public. Visit the Sheboygan Pops Concert Band at:
