Stop sign

To the Editor,

I would like to respond to the proposal to remove stop signs on Reed Street. First of all I want to sincerely thank Police Chief Jeffrey Tauscheck for considering the opinions of the residents who live in this area. This seems like an obvious first step to me!

As a resident on Reed Street, I do not want to change the stop signs. People already speed through this area and the stop signs are the only things that slow them down. This street is not just a way to move cars through town, it is also a neighborhood with kids playing and walking home from school. Safe or not, kids skateboard down the hill on Mead Avenue. Getting rid of the stop sign at this intersection is an accident waiting to happen.

I really don’t understand why this change is being proposed. Please explain this to me. I really do want to know. There seems to be other issues more pressing like repairing the streets on Reed Street! Thank you again Chief Tauscheck for asking for my opinion!
