The win was the Panthers’ third in a row. PHS won four matches in straight sets, led by Matt Primozic’s 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 singles, and Gabe and Gavin Binversie with a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 1 doubles.

“Matthew Primozic continued his stellar play at No. 1 singles as he fought through the cold and the wind, and continues to improve with each match,” said Panther head coach Scott Milslagle.

Plymouth’s other winners included Eric Novak and Lex Eggert at Nos. 3 and 4 singles, respectively; Ben Pierce and Timo Beltran at No. 2 doubles; and Joey Osieczanek and Prem Patel, No. 3 doubles.

“Eric Novak continues to be undefeated at No. 3 singles. In his first season as a singles player he is using his doubles prowess to his advantage on the singles court. His approach shots and his net play are consistent and he takes advantage of his powerful serve to overwhelm his opponents,” Milslagle noted.

“Lex Eggert played a great match at No. 4 singles.”

Eggert bounce back after a 6-1 loss in the second set to win the third set, 6-2, and the match.

“Ben Pierce and Timo Beltran played the match of the day at No. 2 doubles. After losing the first set and being down in the second, the pair rallied to take the second set 7-6 – winning an exciting tiebreaker, 7-4. They used that momentum and won the third set 6-4,” said the coach.

The Falcons’ EWC dual record dropped to 2-2.

In junior varsity play, Plymouth’s Drew Schmitt and Isaac Fintak won their doubles match, 6-1, 6-3.
