Flora’s clutch hit gives Resorters win

ELKHART LAKE – Senior third baseman Rachael Flora laced a two-run double in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters a 9-7 softball win over visiting Reedsville Tuesday afternoon.

The victory was the Resorters’ third straight and improved their Big East Conference mark to 8-1 (9-1 overall). The Panthers dropped to 2-4 in the BEC (4-4 overall).

The game was tied 7-7 going into the last of the sixth after Reedsville had scored twice in the top of the frame.

Sonia Schubert led Elkhart in hits with three and Claire Feldmann collected two. Flora and Feldmann had a team-high two RBIs each. Schubert stole a game-high four bases.

Reedsville banged out 14 hits, led by Brenna Kiekhaefer, Alexyss Schmidt and Brielle Ebben with three apiece. Schmidt had a team-best two RBIs.

Megan Waage earned the win in relief of starting pitcher Holly Zorn. Waage allowed two runs (one earned) on seven hits with no walks and two strikeouts in three innings.


In the JV game, Elkhart outlasted the Panthers, 14-13. Nadya Siddique led the Resorters in hits with two, including a walk-off hit in the bottom of the fourth.

Megan Flora was the winning pitcher.
