Tiger girls win three events in BEC Relays

The Tigers won three events and scored 39 points. Random Lake edged Manitowoc Lutheran, 77-76, to win the meet. The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters placed last with only six points but were missing some key athletes.

The boys champion was St. Mary Catholic (Neenah) with 89.5 points. Elkhart took ninth with 30 and HGHS was 12th with 16 in the 13-team meet.

“The girls did really well, placing first in three events and taking sixth with only seven girls competing. The guys also did very well, running hard in every event they competed in,” said Tiger head coach Zach Wettengel.

The hurdle relay was led by Kjersten Grinna who had the second-best time of 50.16 seconds in her 300-meter race. The other hurdlers were Natalie McCraw and Heather Fry.

The sprint medley included McCraw, Mattie Milz, Grinna and Noelle Eschen in 1 minute, 59.67 seconds. The triple jump trio included Eschen, McCraw and Grinna, led by Eschen who took second individually with a 32-6 performance.

The HGHS girls had one second place – the 1,600 relay of McCraw, Grinna, Milz and Eschen in 4:29.14.

The top place-winner for the Elkhart program was in the boys shot put where Regan Dippel, Bryce Sitko and Jon Roll combined for a first.

The Resorters’ next-best finisher was the boys 400 relay which earned third in 48.04. The relay included Noah Ruh, Jordan Bahr, Jacob Starnitcky and Tyler Schultz.

The HGHS boys were led by their sprint medley which earned third in 1:47.34. The relay consisted of Noah Bramstedt, Brandon Salm, Colton Bitter and Jack Peterson.
