FLORINE F. KLATT

Florine F. Klatt, 90, of Plymouth, WI passed away on Wednesday evening, April 27, 2016 at the Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center. It was then that she was welcomed into the arms of her loved ones that passed before her.

Florine was born on April 22, 1926 in Kenosha of Italian American parents, the late John and Catherine (Martino) Flesia. At an early age her family moved to Mel- len, WI where they established a dairy farm and the Sunshine Dairy, introducing pasteurized milk to Mellen. She attended Mellen schools until her graduation from Mellen High School in 1943. She continued her education at Northland College graduating in 1947 with a teaching degree. It was here she met James Klatt while he was home on survivors leave from the Navy. They married on December 27, 1948 in the Holy Rosary Rectory at Mellen.

Florine taught at schools in northern Wisconsin and Upper Michigan before moving to Yuma Arizona and Inglewood, California where she also taught. Upon their move back to Wisconsin, they settled in South Milwaukee where Florine completed courses in Elementary Education at Cardinal Stritch College. Upon Jim’s retirement in 1980 they moved back to Ashland and she continued teaching until her retirement. She and Jim came to Plymouth in 1996. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2012. Spring was her favorite time of the year. Florine enjoyed gardening, sewing, knitting and being in the kitchen with her baking and cooking. She found great joy spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Florine was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plymouth. She had previously belonged to the Gamma Nu Sorority at Northland College, the Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher’s Sorority, VFW Post 690 Auxiliary and had been active at Our Lake of the Lake Catholic Church serving as a Eucharistic Minister, serving on the Parish Council and Evangelization Team and also served on the Northland College Alumni Board.

Florine is survived by her daughters: Heddamarie (Scott) Hiles of Sheboygan Falls and Annamarie Klatt of Plymouth; her grandsons: Cody James Klatt of Plymouth, Alexander Otto Hiles and Benjamin Scott Hiles, both of Sheboygan Falls; her brother: Donald (Marlene) Flesia of Sturgeon Bay; and her nephews: John Flesia and Joe Flesia of Sturgeon Bay.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:30 a.m., Monday, May 2 at St. John the Baptist Church in Plymouth with Rev. Daniel Volkert as celebrant. Entombment will be in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum. Family and friends may visit at the church, 115 Plymouth St. on Monday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:30 a.m.

A memorial fund has been established in Florine’s name.
