PHS racked up 112 points in the boys meet with 112 points, followed by Campbellsport with 27.5 and Waupun with 11.5. The Panthers amassed 115 points in the girls competition, followed by Campbellsport with 34 and Waupun, eight.

PHS won 17 of the 18 events in the boys meet and had 15 first places in the girls meet. Campbellsport and Waupun had a low number of athletes who competed in the meets.

The PHS boys were led by three double-winners – Samuel Staehling in the 100-meter dash and high jump; Zach Albers, 110 high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles; and Kyle Birenbaum, shot put and discus.

Freshman Gabi Mella led the PHS girls with three wins – 100 and 200 dashes, and the long jump.

“Our boys and girls teams had good nights. Unfortunately both teams [Waupun and Campbellsport] were low on numbers, so we were often competing against ourselves,” said PHS head coach Jay Grosshuesch. “That and the cold conditions kept our performance levels down a bit.

“It was good to get all of our athletes – varsity and junior var- sity – on our home track and field, and allow them to compete.”

The meets were the Panthers’ home openers.
