It’s all Panthers at Vanderpan Invite

PHS dominated both fields – piling up 225 points in the boys meet and 200 in the girls meet. PHS has won an amazing 10 straight Vanderpan boys championships while the Panther girls earned their third in a row.

The PHS teams combined for 20 first places.

Sheboygan Falls finished second in the boys competition with 121 points and the Elkhart Lake- Glenbeulah Resorters were last with 10.5.

Falls took second in the girls meet with 104. Elkhart took last with 18. Both Elkhart teams were missing several athletes.

PHS freshman Gabi Mella was named the Most Valuable Female and Falls’ Clark Otte was selected the Most Valuable Male in their respective meets. Mella won the 200-meter dash and long jump, and ran in the winning 800 relay.

Leading the PHS boys was senior Zach Albers who won the 110 high hurdles and the 300 intermediate hurdles.

“These were great team wins as both squads scored multiple times in numerous events,” said PHS head coach Jay Grosshuesch.

“Almost every athlete that was entered in the meet scored points. This is what we are looking for – points from all events and from many athletes.”

Leading the Resorter teams was the girls 800 relay which finished third. The relay included Jessica Mehre, Lauren Boos, Kaylin Kalbacken and Mia Rent was meester and was clocked in 2 minutes, 1.04 seconds.

The relay included Noah Ruh, Jordan Bahr, Jacob Starnitcky and Tyler Schultz.

“We were not able to be as competitive due to low numbers of athletes participating. The athletes that did compete gave a good effort,” said Resorter head coach Joe Greuel.
