Resorters outlast Lancers in BEC game

ELKHART LAKE – A sevenrun explosion in the bottom of the fifth inning propelled the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters past Manitowoc Lutheran, 12-8, in softball action Thursday afternoon at June Vollrath Park.

The big inning gave Elkhart a 12-3 lead and then the home team had to stave off a late Lancer rally. The Resorters upped their Big East Conference record to 11-2 (12-2 overall).

Claire Feldmann’s two-run triple and Rachael Flora’s two-run double keyed the Resorters’ attack in the fifth.

Elkhart banged out 14 hits, led by Flora and Raechel Grunewald with three each. Feldmann had two. Feldmann and Maddie Schneider had a team-high three RBIs each.

Holly Zorn posted a completegame win. Zorn allowed five earned runs on seven hits with seven walks and three strikeouts.

Lindsay Engelbrecht paced the Lancers in hits with two.

“I was happy with our hitting up and down the lineup. Our defense was phenomenal,” said Resorter head coach Brian Feldmann.

“It was a good team effort. Our bunting was a key. We were able to get several bunts down.”
