Tigers’ attack fizzles in lopsided loss

HOWARDS GROVE – Kylie Rozenboom fired a two-hitter in blanking the Howards Grove Tigers, 10-0, in a nonconference softball game here Tuesday afternoon.

Rozenboom walked two and struck out six. The only hits for the Tigers were a single by Taylor Bubolz and a pinch-hit base hit by Courtney Binversie.

Rozenbom also had a strong game at the plate with a teamhigh three hits. Hailey Heidl was 2-for-3 and Olivia Hofmann laced a double to go with two RBIs.

Paige Splittgerber was the losing pitcher. She surrendered 10 earned runs on 13 hits with four walks and five strikeouts in going the distance.

“The Tigers came out flat. We stayed in the game for three in- nings and then it looked like we gave up. After a half a season of continued improvement we regressed this game in effort,” said disappointed Tiger head coach Tom Heier whose team dropped to 5-9 overall.

The game was called after six innings due to the 10-run rule.
