Teams sought to build, race cardboard boats, paddleboards July 4th

Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan (SEAS) is looking for teams to build cardboard boats for the annual July 4th Cardboard Boat Race, now named SEAS Water Sports with a “Salute to the Military” theme. It’s a great team building project for any business or organization.

This year builders are encouraged to use recycled materials to build their boats. Recycled cardboard is available through the Sea Scouts and at Habitat Restore Lakeside along with other materials. Full details on guidelines, rules and registration is at watersports

Sea Scouts are also offering space to build boats. Select times and dates are available during June on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with cardboard available on site until it’s gone. Contact Lisa Hartman to sign up for build days at

New this year is a paddleboard relay race. Space is limited to eight teams of four. Keeping with the theme, “Salute to the Military,” each team will be racing for the services: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, National Guard, Police/ Sheriff Depts., and Fire Dept. Teams can register at Paddleboards will be provided.
