Payne to address UW-S graduates commencement

Adam N. Payne, Sheboygan County Administrator, will deliver UW-Sheboygan’s commencement address on Tuesday, May 24, 2016. Payne completed both his undergraduate and master’s degree from UW-Madison.

He has served as the Chief Administrative Officer of Sheboygan County since 1999. In this position, Adam coordinates and directs the administrative and management functions of the county’s 19 departments, comprised of 825 employees, 200 programs and services and an annual budget of $128 million.

Student speakers are co-valedictorians, Marly Harmeling, Cedar Grove and Joshua Schmitt, Kiel. Harmeling also earned the title of Graduate of the Year. Home-schooled through high school, Harmeling is active in Student Government, serving as President this past year. She has also served on the UW Colleges Student Government as financial director for two years. She plans to transfer to Cornell, Baylor or UW-Whitewater to major in Human Resource Management with a minor in Marketing.

A graduate of Kiel High School, Joshua served as treasurer of UW-Sheboygan’s Business Club. He plans to transfer to UW-Green Bay to major in Accounting, with the career goal of being a CPA for an accounting firm. Outside of school, Joshua also serves as Treasurer for his church, St. Peter’s U.C.C. in Kiel. He is the son of John Schmitt and the late Melody (Dietrich) and has two brothers.

The evening’s main focus will be recognizing the accomplishments of graduating UW-Sheboygan students. The ceremony begins at 7pm in the Fine Arts Theatre. UW-Sheboygan is located at One University Drive in Sheboygan. Free parking is available. For more information, visit www.sheboygan.uwc.edu
