Countywide student art displayed in UW-S gallery until May 27

The UW-Sheboygan 2016 High School Art Scholarship Exhibition opened Friday, May 13, 2016 in the Fine Arts Gallery. Students from seven area high schools submitted 47 pieces, which are being displayed until May 27 in the gallery.

Media includes drawing, painting, ceramics, photography, illustration mixed media and sculpture. Gallery hours are 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday- Thursday and Friday 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Admission is free. The gallery is located in the Fine Arts building at the UW-Sheboygan campus, One University Drive, Sheboygan.

UW-Sheboygan’s Art Professor, Tom Uebelherr presented Brett Steenwyk, a sophomore at Sheboygan County Christian High School, with the Dean’s Choice award for his pastel titled Falling Water.

Scholarships, funded by the UW-Sheboygan Foundation, were awarded to five high school seniors who will be incoming freshman at the campus this fall. They include:

• Mikayla Mork, Sheboygan, North, Collage (The Flowers Were Hers), $1,000

• Emily Wollner, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Pen & Ink (Someone is Angry), $700

• Jessica Crist, Cedar Grove Belgium, Pastel (Untitled), $500

• Kayla Chopper, Cedar Grove-Belgium, Paper Mache (Rocket), $400

• Sophia Lutzke, Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah, Charcoal on Paper (Homecoming), $400
