JOHN PAUL HAYS

John Paul Hays, 79, of Waldo, WI passed away peacefully at home early Sunday morning May 15, 2016.

He was born in Chippewa Falls, WI on September 6, 1936, son of the late Glen and Genevieve (Hoehn) Hays.

He graduated from McDonnell Central High School. On April 13, 1991 he married Peggy Sheehan.

John served in the United States Air Force from 1953 to 1956.

He was a skilled carpentry contractor.

John was a member of the NRA, Ridge Runners and Random Lake Gun Clubs, Hingham Lions Club, Ruffed Grouse Society and NAVHDA. He enjoyed hunting, trapshooting, and loved all animals especially dogs.

He is survived by his loving wife: Peggy of Waldo; four children: Lisa (Skip) Greanery of Tampa, FL, Debbie Hays of Pewaukee, Thomas Hays of Waldo and Sarah Hays of Waldo; one grandchild; Jess (Chris) Tighe of Mayville; four great grandchildren: Halle, Grady, Liam and Michaela; sisters: Connie Hays of Moundsview, MN, Margaret (Kenny) Schoenberger of Chippewa Falls and Jennifer Worthington of Chippewa Falls; brother: Michael (Kery) Hays of Alaska; sister-in-law: Maureen Sheehan of Wildwood, IL; brothers-in-law: Dennis (Jo) Sheehan of Stoughton, Thomas (Sue) Sheehan of Madison.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; infant son: Jeffrey; and four brothers: Roger, Jerry, Tom and Ben.

Following John’s wishes cremation has taken place.

A celebration of John’s life will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 from 4-7 p.m. at Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, WI.

Military Rites will be conducted on Friday at the Suchon Funeral Home at 7 p.m. by the Plymouth VFW World Cheese Center Post #5612.

A memorial fund is being established in John’s name for the Ruffed Grouse Society.
