Resorters win two, grab second in BEC

ELKHART LAKE – The Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters played two complete games as they swept a softball twinbill from Sheboygan Lutheran, 13-0 and 6-1, Tuesday at June Vollrath Park.

Elkhart, which has won six straight, moved into second place in the Big East Conference title chase as it improved to 16-3 (18- 3 overall). Random Lake leads the BEC at 15-2. Mishicot is in third with a 14-3 mark.

Lutheran fell to 2-11 in the BEC (2-11 overall).

Sophomore Megan Waage twirled a three-hit shutout in the opener. She walked none and struck out five.

The Resorters pounded out 11 hits in game one, led by Sonia Schubert, Claire Feldmann and Maddie Schneider with two each. Rachael Flora had a team-high two RBIs.

Elkhart was aided by four Crusader errors which led to three unearned runs. Schubert scored a team-high three runs.


Junior Holly Zorn fired a onehitter in the nightcap to earn the win. Zorn walked three and fanned nine while allowing zero earned runs. The only hit off her was a single by Bethany Meador with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Schubert’s three hits keyed the Resorters’ nine-hit attack. Claire Feldmann and Emma Feldmann added two hits each. Emma Feldmann led in RBIs with two.
