Panthers breeze to EWC dual win

PLYMOUTH – A dominant performance in the singles matches keyed the Plymouth Panthers’ 6-1 rout over Kewaskum in a boys tennis dual Thursday afternoon at the PHS courts.

PHS swept the singles matches – winning each of them in straight sets. The Panthers raised their Eastern Wisconsin Conference re- cord to 7-2 (7-3 overall).

“A real nice victory for us over a tough Kewaskum team that had only lost two conference duals all season [to the same two teams who beat us – Kohler and Manitowoc Roncalli],” said Panther head coach Scott Milslagle.

“Drew Schmitt and Isaac Fintak have become quite comfortable at the No. 3 doubles team and are really playing well together. This bodes well for the program as they are both only sophomores and continue to improve on a weekly basis.”

Schmitt and Fintak won their match, 6-3, 6-1, over Tyler Schellinger and Nate Heiniadis.

“Lex Eggert played a grueling match at No. 4 singles which fi- nally ended after Lex dominated in the tiebreaker to send us all home happy. Lex’s serve is really what sets him apart from the other No. 4s in our conference and among the other bigger schools we have played in invitationals during the season,” said Milslagle.

Eggert outlasted Andrew Neu 7-5, 7-6 (7-3 tiebreaker).
