Johnsonville team building honored

Johnsonville’s Building Leaders And Superlative Teams (BLAST) leader development program won an Excellence In Practice (EIP) award from the Association for Talent De- velopment (ATD). BLAST is an intensive nine month program where members (employees) learn and develop their coaching (management) skills.

The ATD presents awards annually to organizations and programs that have demonstrated clear and measurable business results. The BLAST program has helped Johnsonville’s bottom line through action learning projects, the creation of continuous-improvement teams and helping the company fill coaching roles internally. Today, nearly 50 percent of Johnsonville's company leaders are BLAST graduates.

The award was presented on May 23 in Denver, Colo. at ATD's 2016 International Conference & Exposition. ATD is the world’s largest association for organizational development, training, and talent development professionals. The EIP award recognizes organizations that have achieved measurable, sustained results through innovative, best-in-theworld talent development practices.

ATD received 151 submissions from around the world. Twenty four organizations received awards. Johnsonville was one of only five American companies to be recognized. The others were Cardinal Health System, IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Western Union.
