Tigers’ Eschen, Grinna move on to state

LITTLE CHUTE – Senior Noelle Eschen and junior Kjersten Grinna will represent the Howards Grove Tigers in the Division 2 girls state track meet after qualifying at the sectional here Thursday.

The top-four finishers in each sectional event automatically qualify for the state meet which will be held Friday and Saturday at UW-La Crosse.

Eschen finished second in the 100- and 400-meter dashes with times of 12.73 seconds and 1 minute, 0.49 seconds, respectfully. Grinna placed third in the 300 low hurdles in 47.05.

The Tiger boys team didn’t qualify any events for state. Their only place-winner (top eight) was junior Noah Bramstedt who took seventh in the 100 dash.

“It was a great night with great competition. The girls are excited to compete at state,” said Tiger head coach Zach Wettengel.

This marks the first since 2009 that HG has qualified any girls for the state meet.
