Resorters’ Schubert to state in three events

PRINCETON – Junior Sonia Schubert continued her standout girls track season for the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters by qualifying for state in three individual events at the Division 3 sectional meet here Thursday.

The top-four finishers in each event automatically qualify for the state meet to be held Friday and Saturday at UW-La Crosse.

Schubert won the long jump with a 17-9 performance, earned second in the triple jump with a 35-2 effort and placed third in the 100 high hurdles in 15.96 seconds.

The Elkhart girls’ other place-winner (top eight score team points) was the 400 relay which finished fifth.

The Resorters’ sectional competitors in the boys meet were Regan Dippel in the discus and Hunter Radloff in the 1,600. They didn’t finish in the top eight.

“As a coach, the goal is to see everyone improve on their times and distances, and that is what happened. Sonia has only triple jumped a few times [this season] and she is doing well in that event,” said Resorter head coach Joe Greuel.

“Hunter improved his time by eight seconds from his previous best in the 1,600, and the girls 800 relay dropped a full second from their previous best. All in all, it was a good season.”
