Boat safety class scheduled

Sailing Education Association of Sheboygan (SEAS) is hosting a Safe Powerboat Handling class in partnership with Sail Sheboygan and U.S. Powerboating Saturday, June 11 and Sunday, June 12. The weekend class will run from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. with limited space.

Whether you are new to boating or have some exposure through friends and family, the class will touch on the proper skills and knowledge needed to be on the water safely.

The Safe Powerboat Handling class is designed for those new to boating and runs a total of 16 hours to meet NASBLA approval.

The class will feature a combination of classroom time and on-thewater experience to safely operate a powerboat and understand state and federal regulations. It will also prepare students 14 years of age or older for the online Wisconsin DNR Boater License, which is required for powerboat operators born Jan. 1, 1989, or after.
