Schweiiger, a lefty, walked only one and had three strikeouts. The Panthers raised their BEC record to 4-0 (4-3 overall). HG dropped to 0-4 in the league (0-4 overall).

“Derek mixed in his off-speed pitches and had good command of the lower part of the [strike] zone. He pitched to contact and the defense played well behind him,” said Panther head coach Butch Cain.

“We had a pretty complete game. I was happy with our performance.

“We excelled [at the plate] with two strikes. We had four hits with two strikes,” Cain noted.

The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the third. Isaac Fintak led off with a base hit and later scored on Austin Struve’s single.

PHS added two runs in the fourth to go up 3-0. Taylor Struve reached first base on an infield error and came home on Zac Kaiser’s triple. Holden Reilly drove in Kaiser with a sacrifice fly.

The Panthers tacked on an unearned run in the sixth.

Matthew Bagnall was the losing pitcher but threw a solid game. Bagnall allowed one earned run on five hits with two walks and one strikeout en route to a complete game.

“Bagnall worked the strike zone well,” said Cain.
