DANIEL E. BUSS

Daniel E. “Danny/Busser/ Sarge” Buss, 65, of Plymouth, WI. passed away peacefully at his home early Thursday morning (June 16, 2016), in his sleep with his wife and daughter by his side, joining his loved ones in heaven.

He was born on March 5, 1951 in Plymouth to the late Ervin and Roseanna (Gaynor) Buss.

As a lifetime resident of Plymouth, Danny attended St. John the Baptist grade school and graduated from Plymouth High School in 1969, furthering his education at Lakeshore Technical College with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Danny began his career at Sargento Foods Inc. in 1970 with the shipping department, by 1972; he was the shipping supervisor working his way to traffic manager by 1974, further promoted to fleet operation manager.

He handled the fleet of trucks and drivers for 43 years until his retirement in November of 2013. During that time, Danny was also a member of the American Trucking Association, National Private Fleet Council, Sheboygan Transportation Association and WI Motors Carries Association.

Danny was appointed to the Plymouth City Planning Commission by the Mayor in 1994. He served two three-year terms and then ran for city council, as a member of Ward 2, serving his constituents for two two-year terms.

Throughout the years, Danny remained single until meeting the love of his life, Peggy Dorn in 1993. Their relationship grew and he asked for her hand in marriage. On June 15, 1996, Dan and Peg were married amongst family and friends at the Plymouth City Park. A blessing at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Kiel, WI followed at a later date.

Besides the joys of fishing and summer yard work, Danny had a passion for travel. He fulfilled this desire by exploring much of the United States, Canada and several destinations throughout Europe. Taking in the many beautiful sights as well as the people he met along his travels, Danny developed numerous friendships lasting over the years from his many adventures. In his later years, he volunteered as a driver for retired service veterans to their doctor and hospital appointments and also enjoyed helping out at the Plymouth Food Pantry. He enjoyed spending time with friends, but most importantly his wife, daughter and dogs.

Danny is survived by his loving wife: Peggy of Plymouth; daughter: Tanya (Jeff) Mast of Madison; niece: Colleen Sachs of Hurley, WI; father and mother-in-law: Pete (Betty) Dorn of Kiel, WI; two sisters-inlaw: Terry (Paco) Dorn Sanchez of Avila, Spain, and Lisa (Jim) Jens of Plymouth and their children Emily and Sam Jens.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Ervin and Roseanna Buss; infant sisters:

Mary and Kathryn; brother: Jerome; sister: Rogene Poole; brothers-in-law: Jack Poole and Michael Dorn; and niece: Christine (Poole) Paternoster, both maternal and paternal grandparents, along with numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at 6 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic in Plymouth. Father Dennis Van Beek will officiate. Cremation has taken place and inurnment will be in St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday, June 21 from 3 p.m. until time of services.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Danny’s name.
