Cedarburg upped its record to 13-6 while PHS dropped to 9-6.

The Panthers committed four errors which led to four unearned runs by the Bulldogs.

“We’ve been playing well, defensively, but this game got away from us, defensively,” said Panther head coach Butch Cain.

“We just couldn’t string hits together. We continued to battle and gave 100-percent effort.”

Trailing 6-0, the Panthers rallied in the top of the seventh. Sam Miller and Holden Reilly hit back-to-back singles to open the frame which put runners at first and third bases. The next batter hit into a 4-6-3 double play which scored Miller. Austin Struve followed with a single which knocked in Reilly.

Reilly started on the mound for PHS and took the loss. The sophomore went 5-1/3 innings and gave up six runs but only two earned. He allowed eight hits and two walks while striking out eight.

“Holden pitched really well. He threw a lot of strikes and gave us a chance to win,” said Cain.

Johnny Gilette was the winning hurler with a complete game. Gilette allowed two earned runs on six hits with one walk and five strikeouts.

“He threw strikes and did a good job. He let his defense work,” said the coach.

PHS didn’t have anyone with multiple hits. Leading the Bulldogs’ offense with two hits each were Christian Kadrich, Gilette and Jared Antonneau.
