Alvin Wallace Pokel, 77, of Elkhorn, Wisconsin passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at his home.

Alvin was born in Plymouth, Wisconsin on September 4, 1938, the son of Alvin and Elinor (Meyer) Pokel. He graduated from Plymouth High School in 1957.

On September 2, 1994, Alvin married Peggy O’Connell in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Alvin was a 2nd generation family owner of Northland Cold Storage, Inc. (1959 - 1989), founded Geneva Lakes Cold Storage, Inc. (1989 - 2003), and Midwest Refrigerated Services, Inc. (2008 - present).

He loved spending time in his many business pursuits, with his family and especially watching his grandchildren in all of their activities.

Alvin enjoyed visiting with his many special friends, going to the casino and watching the Packers and Brewers.

Surviving are wife: Peggy Pokel, Elkhorn, WI; children: Patrick (Lisa) Pokel, Milton, WI, Michel (Debra) Pokel, Cedarburg, WI, Becky Barbeau, Janesville, WI, Kristan (Michael) Nelson, Darien, WI, Jennifer (Joshua) Braun, Janesville, WI, and Stephanie (Aaron) Lilly, Elkhorn, WI; step-children: Shannon (Andy) Ewers, Spring, TX, Joseph (Jodie) Rizzo, Green Bay, WI, and Anthony Rizzo, Elkhorn, WI; grandchildren: Alvin and Aaron Pokel, Holly Schlaefer, Nick Schlaefer, Michael and Jessica Barbeau, Jackson Nelson, Auna Pokel, Elinor and Henrik Braun, Caleb, Charlotte, and Baby Lilly, Dominick and Angelo Rizzo, Izzy and Gabby Rizzo; and great-grandson: Colton Schlaefer; former wives: Maureen (Curran) Pokel and Kathleen (Graves) Pokel

Alvin was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Jerome Pokel.

Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, 2016 at the Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at the Nitardy Funeral Home Chapel, 550 N. Newcomb Street, Whitewater, WI and on Wednesday from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the services at the Resurrection Catholic Parish, 333 Hilltop Drive, Green Bay, WI.
