Goehring ignites Raiders past Elkhart

ELKHART LAKE – Junior Austin Goehring homered and drove in three runs to power the Kiel Raiders past the Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Resorters, 10- 6, in Big East Conference baseball play Wednesday night.

The Raiders upped their BEC record to 11-2 (12-7 overall). Kiel was tied for the league lead with New Holstein through Wednesday. Elkhart fell to 3-9 in the BEC (3-9 overall).

Alex Winkel contributed two RBIs for Kiel. Goehring, Nick Walsh and Trent Nickel led the Raiders in hits with two each.

Tyler Schultz paced the Re- sorters in hits with a pair. Max Kossman had a team-high two RBIs.

Elkhart committed six errors which led to four unearned runs by Kiel.

Walsh was the winning pitcher. He started and went 4-1/3 innings – allowing four runs (one earned) on five hits with three walks and one strikeout.

Elkhart starting hurler Max Kossman took the loss and gave up eight runs (four earned) on five hits with two walks and one strikeout.
