Krueger ignites Mukwonago past Panthers

PLYMOUTH – Jordan Krueger belted a two-run homer and had four RBIs to spark Mukwonago to a 6-1 nonconference baseball win over the host Plymouth Panthers Saturday afternoon.

The Indians upped their record to 10-8 and the Panthers fell to 13-8.

Krueger’s homer came in the top of the third inning and gave the Indians a 4-0 lead. He finished the game with a team-high three hits. Jayson McLeod added two hits.

The Panthers scored their run the fifth. Will Birkholz singled and Holden Reilly followed with a bunt single. Reilly later came home on Austin Struve’s safety-squeeze bunt which went for a base hit.

PHS didn’t have any batters with multiple hits.

The winning pitcher was Tyler Yager who went the distance. Yager allowed six hits and two walks while striking out five.

“Yager did a nice job. He had good location and moved the ball in and out,” said PHS head coach Butch Cain.

The losing hurler was starter Ben Picard. He threw four innings and surrendered four runs (all earned) on six hits with two walks and five strikeouts.

“Ben had a surprise start and battled real well. He showed good composure. Our pitching overall did a nice job,” Cain said.
