Ducktona on tap in Falls this Sunday

With a slew of new activities on the docket, the 28th annual Sheboygan Falls Chamber-Main Street Ducktona 500 Family Festival, Classic Car and Antique Boat Show will light up River Park in Sheboygan Falls Sunday, July 3.

This year’s event, which runs from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., will mark the culmination of the Strengthening Community-Supporting Our Heroes campaign with a new kids safety area, as well as the debut of a new area dedicated to a remote by controlled boat demonstration in the River Park lagoon.

In addition, nearly all of the favorite Ducktona activities will return, including including the popular classic car show, antique boat show, petting zoo, pony rides, Big Wheel races, free kids zone, dunk tank challenge, vendor fair, pancake breakfast, food court and musical entertainment.

The new free Kids’ Safety Area, sponsored by Falls Ace Hardware and Greg Bovre State Farm Insurance, will feature personnel from the Sheboygan Falls Fire Department, Sheboygan Falls Police Department, EMTs and the Sheboygan County Dive Team doing demonstrations in the River Park lagoon.

Also new this year are remotecontrolled boat demonstrations in the River Park lagoon by the RC Boat Club of Milwaukee.

Car show registration for $10 per vehicle will take place from 7 a.m. to noon.

The popular Dunk Tank Challenge will run from noon to 3 p.m.

This year’s dunk tank event will again feature community-based groups and organizations vying for dunk tank donations during their particular time slot.

The group that raises the most money will receive an additional $100 and a trophy.

The Kids’ Big Wheel Races, which are open to children between the ages of 3 to 6, will be presented by Wisconsin Bank & Trust.

Registration will take place at 11 a.m., followed by the races at noon on the basketball courts. Prizes will be awarded to all participants and bikes will be provided.

Pony Rides and Petting Zoo sponsored by Bulitz Carriage Rides.

Casady’s Critters monkey pictures.

The Balloon Lady from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. sponsored by Cellcom.

Free face painting from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. sponsored by Falls Firehouse Pizza.

Ducktona’s signature duck race on the Sheboygan River will begin at 3 p.m.

Once again this year, those purchasing tickets for the top-four finishing ducks will be awarded cash prizes. The first-place finisher will receive $1,000, the second-place finisher will be rewarded with $500, third place earns $250 and fourth place takes home $100.

Duck race tickets are now on sale for $5 per ticket or six for $20.

The St. Paul Lutheran Church Men’s Group will hold a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. in a tent north of the large shelter in the car show area. Proceeds will go to benefit Feed My Starving Children.

Music will be provided by DJ, Dr. Rock all day at the car show and Enigma will offer musical entertainment in the food court from 1-5 p.m.

Entertainment is sponsored by Bemis Manufacturing and Dura- Trel Inc.

Food court will include the following vendors.

Chamber-Main Street - brats and burgers, pulled pork and $1 soda and water.

Point Drive-In – custard.

The Kernel & Old Maid - kettle corn.

The Pita Hut - gyros, chicken on pita, shish-ke-bobs, baklava.

Pentecostals of Sheboygan County - sno kones, large pickles and nachos.

Sheboygan Falls Basketball Club - roasted corn, corn dogs, cheese nuggets and mozzarella sticks.

The Local Vendor – lemon shake up and lemonade.

Word of Grace Community Church – fresh fruit.

The beer garden, sponsored by Odyssey Fun Center, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and vendor fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Vendor fair participants include: Alice’s Jewelry Creations, Cellcom (wireless phone service information), Cutco (knives), Ourtown Orioles 4-H Club (Alex’s Lemonade Stand), Pampered Chef (kitchen tools), Gannett Wisconsin Media (newspaper subscriptions), The Nutman Co. (roasted nuts), Wisconsin Bank & Trust (ATM machines) and the Wisconsin State Fair Street Team (free State Fair tickets, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.).

Car Show vendors include: Chamber-Main Street food booth (9 a.m.-5 p.m. brats and burgers, soda, water, beer, malt beverage), Donuts for Dollars (mini donuts), Sharky’s (car cleaning products) and Sweet Memories (ice cream).

“We have really expanded this year to cover the entire park,” Sheboygan Falls Chamber-Main Street Executive Director Shirl Breunig said. “The Kids Safety Area and RC boat demo will be near the lagoon just off of First Street. We are very happy to utilize all the extra space this year with some new development.

“As a result of the new added space, we will be posting maps of the park to help visitors find what they are looking for,” she said. “The signs will also list the schedule of events throughout the day.”

Ducktona T-Shirt sponsors are Blattner’s Piggly Wiggly, Kennedy Ford, Falls Glass Service and Neumann Plumbing and Heating.

T-shirts will be for sale at the Chamber-Main Street office before the event or at the ticket stand at the large shelter in the car show area and at the Chamber-Main Street tent near the food court

Trash collection is sponsored by Darryl Ottman of The Sewing Machine Shop, Word of Grace Church mission team, Advanced Disposal and Feldmann’s Sales and Service.

“Ducktona has become known as one of the best family friendly summertime activities in Sheboygan County,” Breunig said. “I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy our beautiful park while supporting our community.

“I’m proud to work with an organization that is filled with people that are so passionate about improving Ducktona every year and supporting our community as a whole. It is a lot of work each year, but at the same time it is a lot of fun.”
