Kirby L. Griese Sr., 62, of Elkhart Lake, WI passed away Wednesday afternoon (June 29, 2016) at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice in Sheboygan Falls.

He was born in Milwaukee on December 10, 1953, son of the late Robert Sr. and Charlene (Williams) Griese.

He attended Boy’s Tech and Trade School in Milwaukee leaving to join the military in 1972.

Kirby served in the United States Army from 1972-1982. He was stationed in Germany from 72-75, Fort Riley Kansas from 75-78, Germany from 78-80, Fort Belvoir Virginia from 80-81, and Fort Carson Colorado from 81-82.

He joined the WI Army National Guard in 1984 serving with the B Battery 1-121 FA in Plymouth until 1993, receiving the Meritorious Service Medal for supply excellence. He also served from 1993-1994 with the SVC Battery 1-121 in Whitefish Bay. He retired in 1994 with 20 years of military service.

Kirby was a member of the Sheboygan American Legion Post 83.

Following his service, he worked at Kohler Company from 1997 until his retirement in 2016 from the Global Power Service Divison.

On October 11, 1997, he married Jill Brandt at Immanuel U.C.C. in the Town of Herman.

Kirby enjoyed bowling, darts, watching Packer and Brewer games, and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife: Jill of Elkhart Lake; children: Kirby Jr. (Melissa) and Roseanna Griese of Sheboygan; stepchildren: Brian Brandt of Plymouth and Amy (Corbin) Schad of Hemsville, MT; six grandchildren; and five brothers: Robert (Roberta) of Milwaukee, Kenneth (Sharon) of Sussex, Duane of Milwaukee, Charles (Doreen) of Germantown, and Jonathan (Cheryl) of Oconomowoc.

He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Following Kirby’s wishes, cremation has taken place.

Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at 6:00 P.M. at the Suchon Funeral Home in Plymouth.

Visitation will be held at the Suchon Funeral Home on Thursday, July 7 from 3 p.m. until the time of services.

Military Rites will be held following the services at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in Kirby’s name.
