49ers’ Beau stymies Flames’ bats

BROWNSVILLE – Mitch Beau fanned 15 batters en route to posting a 12-4 win for the Brownsville 49ers over the Plymouth Flames in a Rock River Baseball League game here Wednesday night.

The loss snapped the Flames’ winning at three and dropped their Northeast Division record to 8-3 (14-6 overall). Plymouth led the division going into last Sunday’s league game versus Juneau County.

Brownsville improved to 6-4 in the Northwest Division, good for third place.

Beau allowed three earned runs on eight hits with no walks as he earned a complete-game win.

“Beau threw really hard and has a hard slider. I give him credit. He is one of the best pitchers we’ve faced this season,” said Flame manager Rick Meyer.

Clay Henning and Luke Held led the Flames in hits with two each. Held had a team-high two RBIs on a single in the top of the third. Ryan Wachter scored a team-high two runs.

Jordan DeBoer swung a redhot bat for the 49ers with five hits. Jace Unrien and John Cetnar had two hits each as Brownsville pounded out 13. Matt Luedtke had a team-high four RBIs.

“We let the game get a little sloppy. It was disappointing we didn’t play better,” said Meyer.

The Flames committed three errors which led to three unearned runs.

Jake Klemme was the Flames’ starting pitcher and took the loss. Klemme pitched six innings and allowed seven runs (four earned) on eighth hits with six walks and three strikeouts.
