PLYMOUTH – The Grand Nationals rolled trackside first Saturday night at the Plymouth Dirt Track with James Pagel (St. Cloud) and Matt Loehr (Mount Calvary) setting the pace for a 30- lap feature.

Pagel jumped out to any early lead with Loehr and Josh Pierce (Fredonia) close behind. A caution waved before lap one was completed for four cars colliding between turns three and four. Pagel regained control as Justin Erickson (Plymouth) was slowly passing cars after starting fifth.

Richard Hed (Plymouth) and Mark Fieber (Cascade) battled for fifth. A second caution waved for more cars spinning in turn four. Erickson was all over Pagel on the restart but Pagel managed to hold on. Dave Holm (West Bend) and Brad Weiss (Cascade) battled for 12th.

Matt Yancey (Sheboygan) went outside Tyler Kulow (New Holstein) for seventh. Weiss spun and hooked turn-two tires, bringing out another caution. Erickson took control of the field with Loehr, Pagel and Fieber three-wide behind for second.

A caution waved for Collin Skindzeiewski spin- ning and retiring to the pits. Erickson had a train of Loehr and Fieber behind him. Yancey was competing for fifth place with Pagel.

Erickson was up to lapped traffic on lap 18. More and more drivers dropped to the bottom of the track and drove single file as they were in search of the leader.

Loehr was on Erickson’s bumper in each corner, then lost him on the straightaways. Dave Holm spun in turns three and four to bring out our final caution.

During the restart Matt Jackson (Sheboygan) broke his rear axle and took the hook back to his pits. Erickson regained control of the field with Loehr and Fieber in tow. Yancey passed Hed for fourth.

Loehr continually attempted to pass Erickson in each corner. When the checkers flew on lap 30 Erickson won his first feature of the season, followed in order by Loehr, Fieber, Hed and Yancey.

The other feature winners included: Travis Arenz (Sheboygan) in the B Modifieds; Andy Rein (West Bend), Micro Sprints; Donny Goeden (Kewaskum), Sprints; and Jim Schmidt (Cleveland) in the Late Model.
