Klemme, Cain fuel Flames’ Tri-County win

HUSTISFORD – Jake Klemme delivered four hits and Zac Cain had four RBIs to power the Plymouth Flames past the Hustisford Astros, 10-5, in a Tri- County Baseball League game here Friday night.

The Flames upped their league record to 3-1 (17-7 overall). Ryan Wachter earned a complete-game win – allowing five earned runs on eight hits with four walks and nine strikeouts.

Plymouth busted the contest open with four runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 10-1 lead. The key hit in the outburst was Luke Held’s two-run single.

The Flames banged out 13 hits. Greg Rhude, Matt Rhude and Rick Meyer had two each. Meyer, the Flames’ manager, was pressed into service due to a short-handed lineup.

Greg Rhude and Held contributed two RBIs each. Klemme, Greg Rhude and Meyer led in runs with three apiece.

Nick Gahlman paced the Astros in hits with a pair.

Andrew Mueller was the losing pitcher. Mueller started and lasted five innings – surrendering 10 runs (nine earned) on 11 hits with four walks and six strikeouts.
