Kim Louise Meilahn, 55, of Thiensville, WI, passed away early Sunday morning, July 17, 2016 after a hard fought battle against cancer.

Kim was born in Plymouth on October 7, 1960, daughter of Kristine (nee Kaltbrunner) Meilahn and the late Richard Meilahn. She graduated from Plymouth High School in 1978 and has a Bachelor’s degree in Business Production Management from UW-Whitewater. She was employed as a Production Operations Manager at Super Steel of Milwaukee from 1983 to 2013 and at South West Metal Finishing in New Berlin from 2013 to the present.

Kim enjoyed an active life sharing many hobbies (including golfing, biking, skiing, attending plays, scouring art fairs for treasure, and camping and canoeing) with an extensive circle of treasured friends and family.

She was an incredible chef and entertaining hostess with a flair for making everyone feel welcome. She had a discerning palate and appreciated fine dining and good wines. Kim especially enjoyed traveling across the US and abroad, sampling new cultures and foods in 23 countries across four continents. Kim shared her love of travel with her good friend, Becca, and introduced each of her cherished nieces and nephews to the joys of travel.

Kim particularly loved her dog, Kassi, and took great pride in Kassi’s training, her “Good Citizen” Certificate, and excellence in Agility classes. Kim’s pride may have been slightly misplaced as Kassi gets into everything and is an enthusiastic greeter of all visitors!

Kim is survived by her mother: Kristine Meilahn of Plymouth; brother: Peter (Brenda) Meilahn of Plover; sister: Valerie (John) Whitstone of Green Bay; friend: Rebecca Logan (Geoff Robinson) of Milwaukee; and nieces and nephews: Ashley Meilahn, Amanda (Tony) Corners, Richard Meilahn, Anna Meilahn, Jake Whitstone, Emily Whitstone, and Rachel Whitstone; one grandnephew: William Corners; her aunt and uncle: Marcus & Nancy Meilahn of Greeley, CO; cousins: Melisa (Don) Moore and Paige (Darryl) Hobbs.

Kim was preceded in death by her father: Richard “Dick” Meilahn; paternal grandparents: Ray & Edythe Meilahn; maternal grandparents: Karl & Frida Kaltbrunner; and cousin: Brian Meilahn.
