PHS fall sports practice dates announced

Any athlete planning on competing in a PHS fall sport needs the following items:

1. A physical card or alternate card completed (athletes need physicals every two years).

2. A signed athletic code (parent’s and athlete’s signatures required).

3. A signed WIAA High School Eligibility Information Bulletin (parent’s and athlete’s signatures required).

4. A concussion information form (parent’s and athlete’s signatures required).

When the items are completed, they should be submitted to the PHS office and a blue permit-to-practice card will be issued. Athletes will not be allowed to practice until the blue card is submitted to the head coach. Blue cards may be picked up, start- ing July 25.

If you don’t have access to a computer, the items may be picked up at the PHS office during normal hours: Monday through Friday, 7-a.m.- 2:45 p.m.

An athletic code meeting for athletes going out for sports during the 2016-17 school year will be held Aug. 24 in the PHS auditorium. Freshmen, first-time athletes and their parents are required to attend the meeting which starts at 8 p.m. and follows freshman orientation.

PHS FALL SPORTS INFORMATION

Boys & Girls Cross Country

Parent meeting – Aug. 18, 6 p.m., in PHS cafeteria.

Practice starting date – Aug. 15, 8 a.m. on grassy area at south PHS gym doors.

Other information: summer running club, Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings, 6:15 a.m. at PHS. All are invited to participate.

Football

Informational meeting – none.

Practice starting date – Grades 10- 12: Aug. 1, 9 a.m. Meet in varsity locker room to issue equipment. First practice – Aug. 2, 8 a.m. Freshman practice: Aug. 8, 8 a.m., meet outside PHS gym.

Head coach – Dan Knaus, 980- 5300 (home) and 893-6911, extension 1514 (school).

Boys Soccer

Practice starting date – Aug. 15, 8-10 a.m., south of the PHS student parking lot. During tryout week a second practice will be held 3-5 p.m. at Riverview Middle School.

Girls Swimming & Diving

Informational meeting – Aug. 8, 5 p.m. in the PHS pool area. Meeting will be short and for issuing lockers and collecting information. Blue cards should be brought to meeting.

Practice starting date – Aug. 9, 4-6 p.m. in PHS pool. Practices after Aug. 9 and before school starts will be 6-8 a.m. for those who swam last year and/ or 4-6 p.m. for all who didn’t swim last year.

Other information: Swimmers need to bring a practice suit(s), goggles and a towel.

Girls Tennis

Informational meeting: Parent and player meeting Aug. 2 at 6 p.m. in room B-132 at PHS.

Practice starting date – Aug. 9 at 3 p.m. on PHS tennis courts.

Girls Volleyball

Practice starting date – Tryouts Aug. 15-19: grade 9, 3-5 p.m.; grades 10-12, 9-11 a.m. and 5-7 p.m., all in PHS gym.
